This standard specifies requirements for the design and testing of petrol and diesel fuel tanks for internal combustion engines permanently installed in small craft of up to 24 m hull length. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide a means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC on recreational craft. This standard applies for small craft of up to 24 m hull length and concretizes relevant requirements of the aforementioned directive for recreational craft in Annex ZA regarding the safety requirements for the design and testing of permanently installed petrol and diesel fuel tanks for internal combustion engines. In addition, the standard provides support during marking required by the directive. It enables legal certainty for manufacturers and buyers of craft by the highest level of presumption of conformity compared to the related part of the legal requirements. This consolidated version incorporates Amendments 1 and 2. Amendment 1 introduces improved wording to the Clause Test/General, clarifying which accessories shall be included in the leak test of tanks. Amendment 2 revises the wording of the hydraulic test. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-08-01-05 AK "ISO/TC 188/WG 5 Engine and propulsive systems" at DIN.
