This standard specifies requirements for design and test of petrol and diesel fuel tanks for internal combustion engines permanently installed in small craft of up to 24 m length of hull. This standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association to provide one means of conforming to Essential Requirements of the New Approach Directive 94/25/EC as amended by 2003/44/EC on recreational craft. This standard applies for small craft of up to 24 m length of hull and concretizes relevant requirements of the aforementioned directive for recreational craft in Annex ZA regarding the safety requirements for the design and testing of permanently installed petrol and diesel fuel tanks for internal combustion engines. In addition, the standard provides support for marking required by the directive. It enables legal certainty for manufacturers and buyers of craft by the highest level of presumption of conformity compared to the related part of the legal requirements. This consolidated version contains Amendment 1 into which an improved formulation for testing has been included. This clarifies which accessories shall be included for leakage testing of tanks. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 132-08-01-05 AK "ISO/TC 188/WG 5 Motoren und Antriebssyteme" ("ISO/TC 188/WG 5 Engines and propulsion systems") at DIN.
