Overview

This standard deals with the safety of electrical appliances for household environment and commercial purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase and 480 V for others. The following modifications have been made: - Update of the references to current editions of other standards. - Revision of aspects of functional safety of appliances using programmable electronic circuits. - Update of insulation requirements in clause 29 for high-frequency voltages as present in switch mode power supplies. - Subclause 30.2 has been revised to further align the possibility of pre-selection to the end product test possibilities. - Many notes have been changed to normative texts and some notes have been deleted. - The requirements for appliances of protection class III and protection class III arrangements. The responsible committee is K 511 "Sicherheit elektrischer Hausgeräte" ("Safety of household appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
