Overview

This standard deals with the safety of electrical appliances and machines for household environment and commercial purpose, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and machines and 480 V for other appliances and machines. Various clauses have been revised and Annexes ZE, ZF and ZZ have been added in order to meet the Essential Health and Safety Requirements. Furthermore, various corrections have also been incorporated. The responsible Committee is K 511 "Sicherheit elektrischer Hausgeräte" ("Safety of household appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
