This European Standard specifies the requirements for the installation of liquefied petroleum gas systems in leisure accommodation vehicles and for accommodation purposes in other vehicles. It includes in detail, in terms of safety and health, requirements on the selection of materials, components and appliances with regard to design, on tightness testing of liquefied petroleum gas installations and on the contents of the user's handbook. This European Standard does not cover installations supplied from other than 3rd family gases (LPG), water connections and electrical power supplies to the appliance(s). Portable appliances incorporating their own gas supply are not considered part of the installation and are outside the scope of this standard. It does not include the installation of LPG appliances to be used for commercial purposes or for boats. Also, gas supply equipment and gas appliances separate from and external to the body of the vehicle are not considered by this standard. Requirements for the operation and testing of liquefied petroleum gas systems are specified in the DVGW-Arbeitsblatt (DVGW Code of practice) G 607. In addition, vehicles for commercial use must also comply with the accident prevention regulation BGV D34 "Verwendung von Flüssiggas" ("Use of liquefied gases"). Because caravan holiday homes are not considered as vehicles in Germany, liquefied petroleum gas systems in such homes are to be installed in accordance with the TRF rules (Technical rules for liquefied gases). In addition, caravan holiday homes for commercial use must also comply with the accident prevention regulation BGV D34 "Verwendung von Flüssiggas" ("Use of liquefied gases"). DIN 4815-2 is referred to regarding the national requirements for hoses. Due to the European-wide distribution of the vehicles, it can be expected that English language manufacturer certificates are also available in Germany. Therefore, the English language version of the manufacturer's declaration in accordance with Annex C is depicted in National Annex NA for information purposes.
