Short description
Complaints about odours in ambient air belong to the most frequent objections, especially in case of plants situated in the immediate vicinity of residential areas. The standard describes a method for assessment of odour nuisance by means of the questionnaire technique as well as for estimation whether and to which extent odour nuisance is present in an area. The described questionnaires apply for the assessment of complaints by the public, the assessment of the necessity for emission control measures, the assessment of the effectiveness of emission control measures, and the weighting of the odour nuisance emitted by a source in comparison to parallel nuisance from other environmental stressors, especially noise. The questionnaire for the odour nuisance of residents is assessed by means of a standardised questionnaire designed on the basis of the hitherto existing knowledge on odour and noise nuisance. A model questionnaire consisting of core questions and additional questions is presented in the Annex.
