Short description
The present guideline applies to the planning, erection, operation and maintenance of sanitary facilities. Public sanitary facilities may be found in buildings or land which may properly be visited by the general public in addition to the individuals who work there, or in buildings specifically erected for the purpose of utilization of sanitary facilities. Restrooms and washrooms which the Workplaces Ordinance specifies must be provided are not deemed public facilities. Nor do publicly accessible rooms include the sanitary facilities in hotel rooms, hospital sickrooms, hostels, communal accommodation and so on although these rooms can be used by constantly changing individuals (in this connection see VDI 6000). The present guideline does however apply to rooms in the aforementioned buildings which are reserved for visitors.
