The DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS method is applicable for the use of Web 2.0 technologies and social media in SME. Web 2.0 offers companies the chance to release enhanced innovation potential through the use of new technologies and management aspects, since thus enables participation and knowledge sharing of all employees. As SME have with their limited resources, as opposed to big companies, often no department with dedicated IT expertise, they need lean solutions and other guidance in the meaning of reference, guidelines or best-practice at the Web 2.0 tools to identify the needs and objectives of the company and its employees, select and implement effective. The DIN SPEC provides a guideline for the structured identification and recording of individual company requirements and for the structured identification of the appropriate Web 2.0 technologies and social media. The approach outlined in the Specification is to be understood as a guide and can be applied across all industrial sectors.
