Ambient Assisted Living (AAL) initially referred exclusively to the everyday technical support of people with age and/or health-related handicaps. In the meantime, however, the range of application of AAL technologies has been defined in a fundamentally broader manner. The need for support which shall be met by the technical support results from physical handicaps or a disability affecting the person in question (for example, visual impairment or a mobility handicap can occur for various reasons from which age is only a possibility). In the meantime, AAL services can also be comfort services that can either be used entirely independent of health- or age-related handicaps or are intended to prevent the danger of a health- or age-related handicap. This DIN SPEC in accordance with the PAS method specifies requirements for AAL services that concern the home or the immediate living environment and are related to an AAL system. Normally, AAL technology is always coupled with specific services. These are the subject of this specification. The requirements for these AAL services are divided into General requirements for AAL services; Additional requirements for assisted-living AAL services in the vicinity of the home; Additional requirements for AAL health services and Requirements for AAL services for social communication. This document describes requirements independent of the type of AAL service and shall enable the service provider to provide a high-quality AAL service. Description of job outlines and business execution is not a part of this specification.
