This supplement complements DIN EN 62305-3 (VDE 0185-305-3), Annex E to include all information necessary for the testing and maintenance of lightning protection systems. In accordance with DIN EN 62305-3 (VDE 0185-305-3), clause 7, the test of a lighting protection system shall be performed by a lightning protection professional who is able to plan, install and test lightning protection systems due to professional training, knowledge and experience as well as knowledge of the relevant standards. The fields of planning, testing and installation require different knowledge. A lightning protection professional shall continuously remain up-to-date on the locally applicable construction regulations and the relevant, commonly recognized rules of engineering. The verification can be assigned by regular participation in national further vocational training measures. A lightning protection professional has at least five years of professional experience and an up-to-date professional occupation in the field of lightning protection and fulfils at least one of the following requirements: For the field of planning, knowledge about comprehensive physical relationships, application and use of different planning methods and the applicable normative calculation methods, installation regulations of lightning protection components and overvoltage protection devices as well as engineering requirements and fundamental assembly techniques are required. For the field of installation and assembly, knowledge about physical relationships, detailed knowledge of installation directives of lightning protection components and overvoltage protection devices as well as extensive engineering requirements and assembly techniques are required. For the field of testing, knowledge about physical relationships, application of different planning methods and the applicable normative calculation methods, installation directives of lightning protection components and overvoltage protection devices, general engineering requirements and assembly techniques are required. It shall be ensured by tests that the lightning protection system with its components of external and internal lightning protection corresponds in every way with the standards applicable at the time of planning or installation (that is, the state of the art). A test includes: - the checking of technical documentation, - visual examination, - measurement and logging in a test report.
