Each ship shall be equipped with an anchoring device, also called anchoring gear. In addition to the anchor, anchor winch and chain stopper, anchoring equipment also includes a lashing device - holding device to fix the anchor and anchor chain. VG 84535-2 applies to non-magnetizable anchor lashings which are preferably used on vessels of the German Navy. The anchor lashing serves to lash the retrieved anchor on watercraft with anchor chains according to VG 84511. A compilation of dimensions, masses and parts list (anchor lashing with lashing chain) is documented in the standard. Requirements for the components, such as the shortening clutch (shortening clutches from approved manufacturers shall be interchangeable with one another) are described. Further requirements, such as material, design and tests (such as duration of exposure, test certificate) are indicated. A pictorial application example shows an anchor lashing on board a ship. This VG standard has been prepared by the DIN Shipbuilding and Marine Technology Standards Committee (NSMT), Working Committee NA 132-01-05 AA "Heben, Schleppen, Ankern" ("Heaving, towing, anchoring"), together with the DIN Round Steel Link Chains Standards Committee (NRK), Working Committee NA 085-00-05 AA "Rundstahlketten, Einzelteile und Zubehör für die Schifffahrt" ("Round steel link chains, components and accessories for marine purposes").
