DIN VDE 0620-1:2013-03

This standard applies for fixed socket-outlets for alternating current only, with or without protective contact, with a rated voltage exceeding 50 V, but not exceeding 440 V and with a rated current not exceeding 32 A intended for household and similar purposes, indoors or outdoors. The rated voltage is limited to 16 A for socket-outlets equipped with screwless terminals. This standard does not cover requirements for flush-mounted boxes. It covers only those requirements for surface-mounted boxes necessary for tests on socket-outlets. This standard is also applicable for socket-outlets which are a component of a device unless not stated otherwise in the standard for the concerning device, and for socket-outlets for difficult conditions as well as plug-in devices with miniature fuses in accordance with DIN EN 60127 (VDE 0820). The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 542.1 "Schalter und Steckvorrichtungen für den Hausgebrauch und ähnliche Zwecke" ("Switches and plug and socket devices for household and similar purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
