This standard specifies requirements for the selection and erection of low-voltage and extra-low voltage generating sets intended to supply, either continuously or occasionally, all or part of the installation. The standard also includes requirements for the installations with the following supply arrangements: - supply to an installation which is not connected to system of electricity to the public; - supply to an installation as an alternative to a system for distribution of electricity to the public; - supply to an installation in parallel with a system for distribution of electricity to the public supply; - appropriate combinations of the afore-mentioned. This standard contains the following essential modifications with respect to the predecessor document DIN VDE 0100-551 (VDE 0100-551):2011-06: a) new Subclause 551.2.Z1: additional requirements for stand-alone low-voltage power generating sets not connected to the electricity distribution network and for stand-alone low-voltage power generating sets supplying permanently installed systems separate from the electricity distribution network; b) new "special national condition" for Germany to ZC.3.2.2.2. with regard to the requirements for single-phase emergency power sockets; c) new Annex ZC (normative): description of the additional requirements specified under new Subclause 551.2.Z1 for stand-alone low-voltage power generating equipment not connected to the electricity distribution network and for stand-alone low-voltage power generating equipment supplying permanently erected installations isolated from the electricity distribution network. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 221.5 "Zukunftsfähige Elektroinstallationen" ("Sustainable electrical installations") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
This document replaces DIN VDE 0100-551:2011-06; VDE 0100-551:2011-06 .
