DIN VDE 0100-551:2011-06

This standard specifies requirements for the selection and erection of low-voltage and extra-low voltage generating sets intended to supply, either continuously or occasionally, all or part of the installation. The standard also includes requirements for the installations with the following supply arrangements: - supply to an installation which is not connected to system of electricity to the public; - supply to an installation as an alternative to a system for distribution of electricity to the public; - supply to an installation in parallel with a system for distribution of electricity to the public supply; - appropriate combinations of the afore-mentioned. With respect to DIN VDE 0100-551 (VDE 0100-551):1997-08, the following essential modifications have been made: a) the types of electricity generating sets have been expanded; b) additional requirements for electricity generating sets during parallel operation with other power sources; c) requirements for fault protection (protection against indirect contact); d) requirements for protection by automatic disconnection of supply; e) additional requirements for static converters; f) additional requirements for protection by automatic disconnection for temporarily installed installations have been omitted; g) requirements for automatic switching of power supply installations; h) requirements for the connection of power supply installations to systems for the distribution of electricity to the public; i) requirements for installations incorporating stationary batteries; j) special national conditions (D, NL) have been supplemented, in particular IT system. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 221.1 "Schutz gegen elektrischen Schlag" ("Protection against electric shock") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Informational Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
