This part of ISO 5630 describes a method for the heat treatment of paper and paperboard in air at a relatively high temperature and the general procedure for testing heat-treated materials. It is primarily intended for high-purity papers such as those used for the insulation of electrical equipment. Other relevant standards for electrical papers are IEC Publications 216-1 and 2, IEC Publication 554-2 and IEC Publication 554-3-1. This part of ISO 5630 does not specify the tests to be applied to paper and board. It is left to the parties concerned to determine which tests are appropriate for the type of paper being evaluated. This document contains the German translation of the International Standard ISO 5630-4:1986 prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 6 "Paper, board and pulps" (secretariat: SCC, Canada). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 074-02-03 AA "Physikalisch-technische Prüfverfahren für Papier, Pappe und Faserstoff" ("Physical-technological test methods for paper and board") at DIN Standards Committee Paper, board and pulps (NPa).
