Noise emission of vehicles is characterized by the surface texture and sound absorption characteristics, amongst others. In addition, the skid resistance properties of the surface and its mechanical impedance may influence measured noise levels. In order to minimize the variation in rolling sound emission and vehicle sound emission measurements made at different testing locations it is, therefore, necessary to describe exactly the relevant surface properties and specify carefully the properties of the materials, design and construction of the test surface. This standard contains the German translation of International Standard ISO 10844:2014 and specifies the essential characteristics of a test deck intended for measuring vehicle noise emission and tire-road noise. This standard is an editorially revised version of ISO 10844:2011. The International Standard ISO 10844:2011 has been prepared by Working Group WG 42 "Measurement of noise emission (external) from road vehicles" with German collaboration. WG 42 is a joint group of Technical Committee ISO/TC 22 "Road vehicles" and ISO/TC 43/SC 1 "Noise", the secretariat of which is held by DIN. Regarding the German collaboration, the responsible committee is Subcommittee NA 001-01-05-03 UA "Straßenfahrzeuge - Kenngrößen" ("Road vehicles - Parameters") at Working Committee NA 001-01-05 AA "Geräuschemissionsmessungen an Fahrzeugen einschließlich Messungen im Fahrgastraum und am Arbeitsplatz" ("Measurement of noise emission from road vehicles including measurements in passenger accommodations and workplaces").
