Standard DIN EN ISO 7396-1 specifies requirements for design, installation, function, performance, documentation, testing and commissioning of pipeline systems for compressed medical gases, gases for driving surgical tools and vacuum in healthcare facilities in order to ensure patient safety by continuous delivery of the correct gas from the pipeline system. With the amendment, the terminology on alarms used in the standard is adjusted to the definitions in DIN EN 60601-1-8:2008 (VDE 0750-1-8) "Medical electrical equipment - Part 1-8: General requirements for basic safety and essential performance - Collateral Standard: General requirements, tests and guidance for alarm systems in medical electrical equipment and medical electrical systems (IEC 60601-1-8:2006 + A1:2012)". The amendment (EN ISO 7396-1:2007/A3:2013) has been prepared by ISO/TC 121/SC 6 "Medical gas systems" (secretariat: ANSI, USA), in collaboration with CEN/TC 215 "Respiratory and anaesthetic equipment") (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom) with the participation of German experts. Working Committee NA 053-03-06 AA "Zentrale Gasversorgungsanlagen" ("Central gas supply systems") of NARK is responsible at DIN.
