This standard contains an amendment of DIN EN ISO 6887-4:2003-12. The scope of this standard covers food, animal feeding stuffs and all other samples which may be the cause for microbial contamination of food. DIN EN ISO 6887-4 is a test standard and it concerns the health-related consumer protection. The modification of the standard covers the preparation of test samples, initial suspension and decimal dilutions for microbiological examination of products in clause 9.1 "Flours, cereal grains, cereal by-products, animal feeds and cattle cake". Clause 9.1 has been described in more detail. A distinction is made between category 1 and category 2; the procedures for preparation of the initial suspensions are different depending on this distinction. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-01-06 AA "Mikrobiologische Lebensmitteluntersuchung einschließlich Schnellverfahren" ("Microbiological analysis of foodstuffs including rapid method") at DIN.
