This European Standard contains nomenclature of cereals, pulses and other food grains. This nomenclature serves common understanding and is applicable in all industrial sectors. The standard makes an important contribution to harmonization of nomenclature. This International Standard is a multi-lingual edition. The botanical nomenclature is published at the same time in English, French, German and Chinese, and in the nomenclature of ISTA (International Seed Testing Association). The International ISO 5526 has been prepared by ISO/TC 34/SC 4 "Cereals and pulses" (secretariat: SAC, China). On the European level, Technical Committee CEN/TC 338 "Cereal and cereal products" (secretariat: AFNOR, France) is responsible. The committee nationally responsible for this standard is NA 057-05-06 AA "Getreide und Getreideerzeugnisse" ("Cereal and cereal products") at DIN.
