DIN EN ISO 5495 specifies a procedure for determining sensory differences between two test samples. The method is applicable for determining the direction of differences, for establishing a preference, for testing for similarity between two test samples and for training sensory assessors. The present consolidated version includes Amendment 1:2015 concerning the statistical evaluation and interpretation of the results in the one-sided and two-sided paired difference test in Annex B.5.2. The document has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 34 "Food products" (Secretariat: AFNOR, France), Subcommittee SC 12 "Sensory analysis" (Secretariat: IRAM, Argentina). Amendment 1 had been submitted for parallel vote based on the resolution by CEN/SS C01 "Food products" (Secretariat: CCMC) and has been adopted without modifications into European Standard EN ISO 5495:2007. The collaboration of DIN at the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) is carried out for the field of responsibility of CEN/SS C01 "Food products" through Working Committee NA 057-01-01 AA "Sensorik" ("Sensory analysis") of DIN Standards Committee Food and Agricultural Products (NAL).
This document replaces DIN EN ISO 5495:2007-10 .
