DIN EN ISO 5364:2011-07

The standard applies for oropharyngeal airways of plastic materials and/or rubber with or without reinforcement insert made of plastic materials and/or metal. The dimensions, size designations, performance requirements and information of the manufacturer are specified. The standard contains the associated test methods for the significant performance characteristics. With respect to DIN EN 12181:1998-04, the test method for compression of the buccal portion of the oropharyngeal airway has been revised. Furthermore, the requirement and the associated test method for flexural strength have been deleted and replaced by a requirement including test methods for patency of the oropharyngeal airway lumen. The standard contains the International Standard ISO 5364:2008, which has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 121 "Anaesthetic and respiratory equipment" (secretariat: ANSI, USA) and adopted under the Unique Acceptance Procedure by CEN/TC 215 "Respiratory and anaesthetic equipment") (secretariat: BSI, United Kingdom).
