DIN EN ISO 4254-12:2018-02

This Amendment defines relevant requirements set out in Annex I of EU Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, relating to machines which were placed on the European Economic Area (EEA) market for the first time, with the intent of simplifying the means of proving conformity with these requirements. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a “harmonized” standard and thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Machinery Directive ("presumption of conformity"). This part of ISO 4254, when used in conjunction with ISO 4254-1, specifies the safety requirements and their verification with regard to the design and construction of rotary disc and drum mowers (rotary disc mowers) for harvesting forage crops and for flail mowers with a horizontal axis, which are used only in agriculture and which are mounted, semi-mounted, trailed or self-propelled. It describes measures to avoid or reduce hazards arising from the intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse of these machines during normal operation and maintenance by one person (operator). It also specifies the type of information on safe working conditions to be provided by the manufacturer. It includes flail mowers with a horizontal axis that can be opened at the rear only for maintenance purposes. This part of ISO 4254 also applies to mowing units equipped with a conditioner. This part of ISO 4254 applies only to mowing units that operate at ground level; see Annex A.1 for examples. This Amendment contains the German version of the Amendment A1:2017 to EN ISO 4254-12:2012 prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 23 "Tractors and machinery for agriculture and forestry" in cooperation with e manufacturers and users of rotary disc and drum mowers and flail mowers and of the employers' liability insurance association were involved in the preparation.
