Overview

This Standard defines the most commonly used terms relating to vanilla. The standard is applicable to the following species of vanilla plants: - Vanilla fragrans (Salisbury) Ames, syn. Vanilla planifolia Andrews, commercially known under various names associated with the geographical origin, such as Bourbon, Indonesia and Mexico; - Vanilla tahitensis J. W. Moore. In the worldwide trading of goods, the unambiguous designation is of high importance to the trading parties. The English, French and German designations relating to vanilla enable precise assignment. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 057-05-07 AA "Gewürze und würzende Zutaten" ("Spices and condiments") at DIN.
