This document applies to situations in which such data is recorded on or transported by patient healthcards compliant with the physical dimensions of ID-1 cards defined by ISO/IEC 7810. This document specifies the basic structure of the data contained within the medication data object, but does not specify or mandate particular data sets for storage on devices. The purpose of this document is for cards to provide information to other health professionals and to the patient or its non-professional caregiver. It can also be used to carry a new prescription from the prescriber to the dispenser/pharmacy in the design of its sets. The standard differs from DIN EN ISO 21549-7:2007-11 as follows: a) change to the information on the medication notes in Clause 1 "Scope"; b) shortening and correction of the list of terms in Clause 3; c) shortening of the list of abbreviations in Clause 4; d) harmonization of all attribute names in the table with the class diagrams in Clause 7. To make it easier for the implementer, the components of the ASN.1- terms have been merged into a new Annex A; e) merging of the figures in 7.3 and 7.4 and a number of associated adjustments to the texts contained therein; f) merging of Figures 26 and 27 in 7.5. This document (EN ISO 21549-7:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee ISO/TC 215 "Health Informatics" (secretariat: ANSI, United States) with the collaboration of Technical Committee CEN/TC 251 "Medical Informatics" (secretariat: NEN, the Netherlands) with the participation of German experts.
