This document specifies the general principles for the design and assessment of offshore structures subjected to known or foreseeable types of actions. These general principles are applicable worldwide to all types of offshore structures, including bottom-founded structures as well as floating structures, and to all types of materials used including steel, concrete and aluminium. This document specifies design principles that are applicable to all the successive stages in the construction of the structure (that are fabrication, transportation and installation) during its intended life and for the decommissioning of the structure. This principles are also generally applicable to the assessment or modification of existing structures. Aspects related to quality control are also addressed. This document is applicable to the design of complete structures, including substructures, topside structures, vessel hulls, foundations and mooring systems. For Germany Working Committee NA 109-00-01 AA "Materialien, Ausrüstungen und Offshore-Bauwerke für die Erdöl-, petrolchemische und Erdgasindustrie - Spiegelausschuss zu CEN/TC 12 und ISO/TC 67" ("Materials, equipment and offshore structures for petroleum, petrochemical and natural gas industries; national mirror committee for CEN/TC 12 and ISO/TC 67") at Petroleum and Natural Gas Industries Standards Committee (NÖG) at DIN e. V., the German Institute for Standardisation, has cooperated in the proceeding.
