This International Standard specifies requirements for calibration, verification and validation of equipment used for control of process variables during fabrication, and control of the properties of equipment used for welding or welding allied processes where the resulting output cannot be readily or economically documented by subsequent monitoring, inspection and testing. This involves process variables influencing the fitness-for-purpose and in particular the safety of the fabricated product. This standard differs from DIN EN ISO 17662:2005-07 as follows: a) Clause 2 "Normative references" and Clause "Bibliography" have been revised; b) Clause 3 "Terms and definitions" has been brought in line with ISO/IEC Guide 99:2007; c) process reference numbers have been brought in line with DIN EN ISO 4063:2011-03; d) a requirement relating to the watt meter has been added in Table 11 "Electrical variables"; e) a requirement relating to validation of the lift has been added in Table 25 "Drawn arc stud welding"; f) 14.2 and 14.3 on manual and mechanized brazing have been condensed; g) Table 45 (now Table 44) "Temperature-time measurement" has been revised. The draft standard was developed by ISO/TC 44/SC 10 "Unification of requirements in the field of metal welding" and adopted identically as a European draft standard. The responsible German standardization body is DIN/DVS Joint Committee NA 092-00-04 AA "Qualitätssicherung beim Schweißen" ("Quality assurance of welding (DVS AG Q 2)") in DIN Standards Committee Welding and allied processes (NAS).
