The amendments A1 to the relevant standards of the DIN EN ISO 12402 standard series, editions 2006-12, contain editorial changes in order to harmonize the text of all 10 parts of this standard series; and - changed requirements for the marking, inflatable buoyancy chambers, and the strength of lifejackets (performance level 275) (part 2/A1) and of lifejackets (performance level 150) (part 3/A1) - changed requirements for the marking, inflatable buoyancy chambers, in-water performance and the strength of lifejackets (performance level 100) (part 4/A1) - the strength of buoyancy aids (level 50) (part 5/A1) - linguistic improvements and new requirements for the use of tested/certified components, for the buoyancy chambers and the strength of lifejackets and buoyancy aids (part 6/A1). - changed requirements for the temperature for temperature cycling, thermal stability of the buoyancy material and the test method for the compressibility of inherently buoyant material. The exposure of IRM 902 oil in accordance with ASTM D 471-98 has been completely deleted in Tables 2, 8, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 (part 7/A1) - changed requirements for the test methods for personal flotation devices. In addition to a table, which describes the sequence of the mechanical tests, a buoyancy behaviour test has been added; additional explanatory figures for reference test life jackets for adults (Annex B) have been included. The Amendments A1 to the standards of the EN ISO 12402 standard series have been prepared by CEN/TC 162 "Protective clothing including hand and arm protection and lifejackets" (secretariat: DIN), in collaboration with ISO/TC 188 "Small craft" (secretariat: SIS, Sweden). The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 112-04-04 AA "Wasserrettungs- und Sicherheitsmittel" ("Lifesaving in water and safety equipment") of NASport.
