This standard specifies particular requirements for clinical investigations for posterior and anterior chamber intraocular lenses (IOLs). Additionally, the standard includes annexes regarding the particular characteristics when investigating toric and accommodating IOLs. This standard is part of a comprehensive standards series, DIN EN ISO 11979, for intraocular lenses. It is directed at the experts carrying out clinical investigations of intraocular lenses, especially among manufacturers and test laboratories. The responsible Working Committee is NA 027-01-20 AA "Intraokulare Medizinprodukte" ("Intraocular medical devices") at DIN Standards Committee Optics and Precision Mechanics (NAFuO).
