DIN EN 9110 applies for use by maintenance organizations whose primary business is providing maintenance, repair and overhaul services for commercial and military aviation products; and for Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) organizations with maintenance, repair and overhaul operated autonomously or that are substantially different from their manufacturing/production operations. The standard is tailored for organizations with National Airworthiness Authority (NAA) repair station certification and those that provide maintenance, repair and overhaul services for military aviation products; but the standard could significantly benefit non-certificated maintenance organizations that choose to adopt it. The previous standard has been revised to incorporate the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 and AS/EN/JISC 9100:2009 developed by IAQG. In addition, requirements, definitions and notes have been revised and additional requirements have been included in response to the needs of all parties concerned. Industry has established the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), with representatives from companies in the Americas, Asia/Pacific and Europe, to implement initiatives that make significant improvements in quality and reductions in cost throughout the value stream. This standard has been prepared by the IAQG. This standard EN 9110 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Quality, for the IAQG sector Europe. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-05-01 AA "Grundlagen und Managementverfahren" ("Basic principles of management processes") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN. According to Resolution 57/9 of Technical Committee of the advisory board of the Aerospace Standards Committee (NL) at DIN, the German Institute for Standardization e. V., the European space industry standardization results shall be adopted into the German body of standards in both languages, German and English. Therefore, the English version is added to the German version of this EN standard.
