The new edition of DIN EN 9101 defines requirements for the preparation and execution of the audit process for certification of organisations in the aerospace and defence industries. In addition, it defines the content and composition for the audit reporting of conformity and process effectiveness to the EN 9100-series standards, the organization's QMS documentation, and customer and statutory/regulatory requirements. The standard can be applied by organisations in the aerospace and defence industry at all levels of the global supply chain. The requirements in this standard are additions or represent changes to the requirements and guidelines in the standards for conformity assessment, auditing, and certification as published by ISO/IEC (for example, ISO/IEC 17000, ISO/IEC 17021). When there is conflict with these standards, the requirements of the EN 9101 standard shall take precedence. Compared to the previous edition DIN EN 9101:2011-10, the following changes have been made: a) the process-oriented audit approach and the assessment of process effectiveness have been strengthened, the performance indicator (KPI) for the presentation of process results and a process evaluation matrix with Table 3 have been included; b) the chapters have been revised to adapt the standard to the current EN 9104-001 and ISO 17021; c) new clauses for specific processes and reporting have been included. For reporting, Table 1 adds a reporting matrix with the certification structures in accordance with EN 9104-001; d) the previous Annex A with the records of objective evidence (OER) is no longer applicable and has been merged with the previous Annex C to the new EN 9101 Form 3: Report on the evaluation of the effectiveness of processes in Annex B; e) the reports previously listed in individual Annexes have been revised in line with the aforementioned changes and combined as forms in the new Annex B. This standard has been prepared by the International Aerospace Quality Group (IAQG), with representatives from aerospace and defence companies in America, Asia/Pacific and Europe. EN 9101 has been published by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Quality, for the lAQG sector Europe. AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the aerospace sector. The responsible German standards body is the Working Committee NA 131-05-01 AA "Grundlagen und Managementverfahren" ("Basic principles of management processes") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
