This European Standard specifies safety requirements and test methods for dynamic climbing ropes (single, half and twin) of kernmantle construction used in mountaineering, including climbing. This standard contains safety-related specifications within the meaning of the German Product Safety Act (ProdSG). Insofar as the standard has been determined by the Product Safety Committee and its reference has been published by the German Federal Institute for Occupational Safety and Health in the German Joint Ministerial Gazette, dynamic mountaineering ropes manufactured in accordance with this standard are presumed to satisfy the relevant requirements for the safety and health of persons. This document (EN 892:2012+A1:2016) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 136 "Sports, playground and other recreational facilities and equipment" at Working Group 5 "Mountaineering and climbing equipment", the secretariat of which is held by DIN (Germany. The committee responsible for this standard is NA 112-04-05 AA "Bergsteigerausrüstung" ("Mountaineering equipment") at DIN Standards Committee Sports Equipment (NASport).
