This standard specifies additional or deviating requirements to EN 81-20:2014 for new passenger and goods passenger lifts to be installed. The additional or deviating requirements deal with new passenger and goods passenger lifts in existing buildings. Once this standard is cited in the Official Journal of the European Union, it is deemed a "harmonized" standard, and, thus, a manufacturer applying this standard may assume compliance with the requirements of the Lifts Directive addressed by the standard (presumption of conformity). The main concern dealt with in this standard is the reduction of top and pit clearances that may be required due to site conditions. This standard includes the German version of EN 81-21:2017 prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 10 "Lifts, escalators and moving walks" of the European Committee for Standardization (CEN). The standard differs from DIN EN 81-21:2012 and DIN EN 81-21 Corrigendum 1:2014 as follows: * adjustments to the references and the associated requirements in relation to EN 81-20: 2014; * removal of duplicate text regarding the requirements for protective spaces according to EN 81-20 2014; * replacement of Annex ZA with regard to the amended standardization mandate M/549/C(2016) 5844 and the Directive 2014/33/EU. The national interests during the preparation were represented by Committee NA 060-33-01 AA "Aufzüge" ("Lifts") of Technical Section Lifts and Escalators at DIN Standards Committee Mechanical Engineering (NAM). Representatives of manufacturers and users of lifts, and of employers' liability insurance associations contributed to this standard.
