Overview

The standard DIN EN 62625-1 (VDE 0115-625-1) covers the specification of an on board driving data recording system for the purpose of recording data about the operation of the train. The data refers both to the driver behavior and the on board systems behavior. Recording takes place to support systematic safety monitoring as a means of preventing incidents and accidents. The data is recorded in a way that is suitable for identifying cause and where possible consequence. The global recording system specified in the standard is applicable to all types of rolling stock. This standard does not cover any additional requirements from administration and the secure storage of the data. The responsible body is DKE/UK 351.1 "Fahrzeuge" ("Vehicles") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
