This part of the DIN EN 61010 (VDE 0411) series of standards contains safety requirements for the following electrical laboratory equipment and its accessories: environmental test chambers such as equipment incorporating heating and/or cooling in accordance with the test methods of IEC 60068 and/or MIL-STD-810 G, climatic test chambers for biological applications and other similar purposes, such as Devices based on the "Plant Growth Chamber Handbook", stability test chambers for drug substances and products such as devices in accordance with test methods of Q1A® and Q1B of the ICH (Harmonized Tripartite Guideline), laboratory thermostats and circulation thermostats, such as devices that fulfill the requirements of DIN 12876, heating and/or cooling incubators with the possibility of adding humidity and/or carbon dioxide, shaking bath thermostats and shaking incubators as well as other laboratory devices that can heat and cool. The safety requirements for test chambers and incubators apply to both reach-in devices and walk-in units. The responsible committee is DKE/K 913 "Sicherheitsanforderungen an typische Geräte, Einrichtungen und Systeme für Labor und Unterricht" ("Safety requirements for typical apparatus, equipment and systems for laboratory and teaching purposes") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
