Overview

This International Standard specifies requirements for thyristor valves with metal oxide surge arresters for use in a line commutated converter for high voltage DC power transmission or as part of a back-to-back system connected directly between the valve terminals. It is limited to electrical type and fabrication tests. The tests specified in this standard are for air-insulated valves. The test requirements and acceptance criteria may be agreed for other types of valves. The committee responsible is DKE/K 331 "Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
