Overview
This International Standard specifies requirements for thyristor valves with metal oxide surge arresters for use in a line commutated converter for high voltage DC power transmission or as part of a back-to-back system connected directly between the valve terminals. It is limited to electrical type and fabrication tests. The tests specified in this standard are for air-insulated valves. The test requirements and acceptance criteria may be agreed for other types of valves. Corrigendum 1 to DIN EN 60700-1 (VDE 0553-1):2016-07. The committee responsible is K 331 "Leistungselektronik" ("Power electronics") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
