The standard deals with the safety of electric fishing machines by means of which water may be electrified for the purpose of catching fish or for providing barriers to all animals living in water. Annexes list separate requirements for boat mounted electric fishing machines and electric fishing machines with internal combustion engine. The rated voltage of the equipment described in this standard is 250 V maximum for single phase machines and 480 V for other machines. The rated voltage can also be up to 1 000 V for electric fishing machines for permanent connection to fixed wiring. This standard covers the basic elements of the safety principles for electrical equipment for use within certain voltage limits (LVD - 2006/95/EC) for the equipment listed above. Compared to DIN EN 60335-2-86 (VDE 0686):2006-02, Clause 3 and Annex ZZ have been adapted to the current set of standards. In Subclause 7.12 specifications have been included on how to refer to the use of electric fishing machines. In Clause 22 the specifications for the toggle switch, biased-off switch and devices with batteries have been changed. The requirements for electric fishing machines with a built-in combustion engine are now described in Annex ZE and requirements for noise emission in Annex ZAA. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 531.1 "Electrofishing" of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
