Overview

This standard deals with the safety of electric room heaters for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. Requirements for persons requiring protection are added. Requirements for persons requiring protection are adapted to the next edition of EN 60335-1, amongst others. The external surface temperatures in 11.8 have been redefined in this context and in relation to the surface. The responsible committee is Subcommittee UK 511.4 "Raumheizgeräte" ("Room heaters") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
