This standard incorporates the text of the international publication IEC 60335-2-3:2012-03 adopted by CENELEC with amendments as a European Standard. The European amendments introduce, among other things, requirements concerning "vulnerable persons" and children and temperature limits for hot surfaces that can be touched. This standard also amends Subclause 25.7 of IEC 60335-2-3. Cables with EPR insulating sheath and textile braid (H03RT-H, international abbreviation 60245 IEC 89) may now be used. In addition, several comments have been converted into normative text (requirements and/or tests). International Standard IEC 60335-2-3 deals with the safety of electric dry irons and steam irons, including those with a separate water tank or boiler with a capacity not exceeding 5 litres, for household and similar uses, with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V. The responsible committee is DKE/UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-driven devices") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
