Overview

This standard deals with the safety of electric dry irons and steam irons, including those with a separate water reservoir or boilers having a capacity not exceeding 5 l, for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V. Through CENELEC amendment A11:2010-05, which has been incorporated into the European Standard EN 60335-2-3:2002 + A1:2005 + A2:2008, additional requirements and testing for determining the category "persons requiring protection" and children, and temperature limits for touchable hot surfaces are added. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.11 "Motorische Geräte" ("Motor-operated appliances") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) of DIN and VDE.
