This standard includes the text of EN 60335-2-11:2010/A11:2012 which has been prepared by CENELEC/TC 61. This European amendment introduces requirements in respect to sensitive persons and children as well as limits for accidentally touchable hot surfaces. This standard deals with the safety of electric tumble dryers intended for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It applies to the drying function of washing machines having a drying cycle. The scope of this standard also covers the safety of tumble dryers that use a refrigerating system, incorporating sealed motor-compressors, for drying textile material. These appliances can contain flammable refrigerants. The responsible body is DKE/UK 511.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte und Geschirrspüler" ("Laundry care appliances and dishwashers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
