This standard applies for the safety of electrical tumble dryers for household and similar purposes, their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. It also applies for drying function in washing machines with drying cycle. This standard also deals with the safety of tumble dryers, into which a cooling system with incorporated enclosed motor compressors is installed for drying the textiles. These devices may contain inflammable refrigerants. The text of the 7. edition of IEC 60335-11:2008-11 which has been ratified as EN 60335-2-11:2010-04 with common CENELEC amendments has been adopted in this standard. Notes have been changed into normative text, amongst others. The responsible Committee is Subcommittee UK 511.1 "Wäschepflegegeräte und Geschirrspüler" ("Laundry machines and dishwashers") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
