This standard contains the German version of European Standard EN 55016-5:2015 and is identical with the second edition of International Standard CISPR 16-1-5 (edition from 2014). It specifies the requirements for calibration sites that are used to calibrate measuring antennas in the frequency range 5 MHz to 18 GHz. The purpose is to use the standard to prove the suitability of the calibration site. A calibration site which is suitable for the calibration of antennas (antenna calibration site) is intended to create a suitable environment for the calibration of the free space antenna factor. In this standard it is assumed that the calibration takes place above a reflective plane. In order to be suitable for the calibration of antennas, the antenna calibration site shall therefore meet certain requirements for its calibration site attenuation. These requirements as well as the associated limit deviations are specified in this standard and the validation procedure to be used for antenna calibration sites is described. The calibration site attenuation is determined using matched dipoles or broadband antennas. A validated antenna calibration site can also be used as a reference calibration site for the suitability test of calibration sites according to CISPR 16-1-4 or EN 55016-1-4 or DIN EN 55016-1-4 (VDE 0876-16-1-4) if it meets some additional requirements. These additional properties and design criteria are also specified in this standard. Compared to the previous edition of the standard, a new 5.4 has been added which contains information on a new Annex I of CISPR 16-1-6. This Annex to CISPR 16-1-6 describes a method for measuring the radiation patterns of antennas and the validation of the calibration sites to be used for this in the frequency range above 1 GHz. It has been published as Amendment 1 to CISPR 16-1-6. The German version has also been editorially revised. The international series of standards CISPR 16 and the EN 55016 series are basic EMC standards which are used to specify the devices and calibration sites, to describe the processes and to deal with the measurement uncertainty for what are essentially interference emission measurements. The EMC product committees and users of measurements of electromagnetic interference are advised to observe the relevant provisions of the CISPR 16 and EN 55016 series of standards on measuring devices, methods and measurement uncertainty in their specifications for measuring high-frequency emissions (radio interference). The German versions of the EN 55016 series are published within the framework of DIN EN 55016 (VDE 0876) and DIN EN 55016 (VDE 0877). The responsible committee is Subcommittee DKE/UK 767.4 "Geräte und Verfahren zum Messen von elektromagnetischen Aussendungen" ("Equipment and methods for measurement of electromagnetic transmissions") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
