The standard applies to planning and design of overhead lines exceeding AC 45 kV. It shall be applied for plastic covered conductors in Germany. In Germany, the standard is applicable for all types of conductors which contain telecommunication components. It is applicable for the installation of telecommunication equipment on supports in Germany. The following main changes have been made: a) terms and definitions, symbols and normative references have been updated; b) clause on wind loads has been revised, whereby the wind load assumptions have been classified into four instead of the current three wind load zones and have been taken over together with the wind-zone map from DIN 1055-4:2005-03; c) clause on ice loads has been revised, whereby four instead of the current three ice load zones have been introduced and an informative geographical ice load map for these four zones has been added in Annex S; d) clause "maintenance facilities" has been revised. The responsible Committee is K 421 "Freileitungen" ("Overhead lines") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
