Standards of the EN 50083 and EN 60728 series deal with cable networks including equipment and associated methods of measurement for headend reception, processing and distribution of television signals, sound signals and their associated data signals and for processing, interfacing and transmitting all kinds of signals for interactive services using all applicable transmission media. This standard applies to the radiation characteristics and immunity to electromagnetic disturbance of active and passive equipment for the reception, processing and distribution of television, sound and interactive multimedia signals in the frequency range from 9 kHz to 30 GHz. It specifies requirements for maximum allowed radiation, minimum immunity and minimum screening effectiveness and test methods for conformance testing. The following items have been modified in the new edition: - expansions of the frequency ranges: increase of the upper frequency limit for cable network equipment, - extension of the intermediate frequency range, - allocation of the methods of measurement and EMC requirements in the overlapping frequency range; - adaptation of the standard to the changed EMC environment in the 800 MHz band; - compilation of the measurement methods for indoor antennas in the new clause 4.9; - supplementation of the bibliography. The responsible committee is K 735 "Kabelnetze und Antennen für Fernsehsignale, Tonsignale und interaktive Dienste" ("Cable networks for television signals, sound signals and interactive services") of the DKE (German Commission for Electrical, Electronic and Information Technologies) at DIN and VDE.
