The standard series EN 4604 describes requirements for electrical cables for signal transmission for use in aircraft electrical systems. This new edition of Part 009 specifies the requirements for a light weight coaxial cable, 50 ohm, type KW for use in aircraft electrical systems at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 180 °C and in particular for high frequencies up to 6 GHz. Nevertheless, if required, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by rapid change of temperature test. The following modifications with respect to the previous edition DIN EN 4604-009:2011-09 have been made: a) the propagation rate of the electrical characteristics has been increased; b) the power rating test according to EN 3475-813 has been deleted and with it the corresponding reference in Table 3. The standards of the EN 4604 series are prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
