The EN 4604 standard series describes requirements for electrical cables for signal transmission for use in aircraft electrical systems. Part 009 specifies the required characteristics of a light weight coaxial cable, 50 ohms, type KW for use in aircraft electrical systems at operating temperatures between -55 °C and 180 °C and especially for high frequencies up to 6 GHz. Nevertheless, if needed, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by thermal stability test. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 4604-009:2010-08: a) the power values in 4.3 shall be confirmed by measurement or calculation; b) in the tests in 4.4, the immersion test has been added in Part 302; c) in the tests in 4.4, the temperature has been reduced to (-65 ± 2) °C in Part 415; d) in the tests in 4.4, the testing time has been given as a function of temperature in Part 418; e) in the tests in 4.4, the tensile strength of the inner conductor has been changed to ≤ 138 MPa in Part 505; f) in the tests in 4.4, the length of the sample has been deleted in Part 515; g) in the tests in 4.4, the velocity of propagation has been deleted in Part 804; h) in the tests in 4.4, Table 3 has been mentioned in Part 806; i) in the tests in 4.4, Part 813, power rating, has been added; j) the colour of marking has been specified in clause 7. The standards of the EN 4604 series have been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
