The standards of the EN 4604 series describe requirements for electrical cables for signal transmission for use in electrical on-board networks of aircraft. The standard DIN EN 4604-009 specifies the required characteristics of a light weight coaxial cable, 50 O, type KW for use in aircraft electrical systems at operating temperature between -55 °C and 180 °C and specially for high frequency up to 6 GHz. Nevertheless, if needed, -65 °C is also acceptable as shown by rapid change of temperature test. The standard differs from the previous edition DIN EN 4604-009:2014-10 as follows: a) EN 4434 has been included in clause "Normative references"; b) in Table 1, copper or copper alloy according to EN 4434 has been added as a possible material for the shield; c) in Table 4, a value for the elongation has been added to the comments on EN 3475-505 for the braid and the mandrel diameter and the number of cycles have been increased in EN 3475-512. The standards of the EN 4604 series are prepared by the ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrotechnology, with the participation of German experts from DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL). AeroSpace and Defence Industries Association of Europe - Standardization (ASD-STAN) has been declared responsible by the European Committee for Standardization (CEN) for preparing European Standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-02 AA "Elektrische Leitungen" ("Electric cables") at DIN Standards Committee Aerospace (NL).
