DIN EN 4531-002:2012-07

The standard series DIN EN 4531 describes the characteristics of single and multipin optical circular connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring and flush contacts for aerospace applications. The new edition of Part 002 specifies the performance and contact arrangements of circular optical connectors, coupled by triple start threaded ring. The following modifications have been made with respect to DIN EN 4531-002:2008-04: a) revision of the normative references; b) modification of the designation of the previous environmental classes C and B into X and A; c) the previous Table 2 containing the combinations of connectors has been deleted; reference is now made to EN 3645-002; d) the previous clause 5.2 "Allowable cables" has been deleted; d) the table in clause 5.3 "Materials of the sleeves" has been revised; instead of sleeve numbers, letters are used now for marking purposes; f) the table in clause 7 "Polarization" has been deleted; reference is made to EN 3645-001; g) incorporation of the size codes into the table in clause 8 "Shell sizes and contact arrangements"; h) incorporation of shell size 15 instead of previous shell size 17 in the table in clause 8, the number of contacts has been changed from 11 to 12 for shell size 21, Figure 4 and Figure 6 have been modified accordingly. The standard series EN 4531 has been prepared by ASD-STAN, Technical Section Electrics, Avionics, with the participation of German experts of the Aerospace Standards Committee. The European Committee for Standardization (CEN) declared the Aerospace and Defence Industries Association of Europe (ASD-STAN) responsible for the preparation of European standards (EN) for the field of aerospace. ASD became the associated body (ASB) of CEN by the agreement dated 1986-10-03. The responsible German standardization committee is Working Committee NA 131-04-10 AA "LWL und LWL-Komponenten" ("LWL and LWL-components") of the Aerospace Standards Committee at DIN.
