This European Standard specifies performance requirements for high-pressure decorative laminates (HPL) intended for interior use, the core compositions of which are not covered by EN 438-3 to EN 438-6 and EN 438-8. The core composition types (coloured core and metal reinforced core) are defined in this part of EN 438. The test methods which are important for this part of EN 438 are specified in EN 438-2. This standard has been prepared by WG 4 of Technical Committee CEN/TC 249 "Plastics" (secretariat: NBN, Belgium). Regarding the German collaboration the responsible Committee is Plastics Standards Committee (FNK). The responsible Working Committee is NA 054-04-11 "Dekorative Schichtstoffe und Mineralwerkstoffe" ("Decorative laminates and solid surfacing materials").
